Lappi vase blue matt finish, designed by Erkki Vesanto for Iittala, circa 1960, in perfect condition.

Finnish glass designer. He joined Iittala as a full time designer in 1939 when he was twenty-one. At first he made technical working drawings for objects in serial production. He sussequently acted as liaison between the designers and the glassworks. He supervised production as the designers' shop-steward. His own design work in the 1940s was mainly art glass vases, ten glassware sets, schnapps glasses and snifters as well as carafes and jugs. He was also deeply interested in the history of the Iittala glassworks and in the 1970s he was in charge of the Iittala Glass Museum.
